Programme background

Across Thailand, many persons with disabilities are ready and motivated to work but continue to face barriers when transitioning from education into employment. Although schools, vocational programmes and disability organisations provide valuable training and life skills, many individuals struggle to access meaningful employment after graduation.

At the same time, employers across sectors such as hospitality continue to experience workforce shortages while many lack the confidence, practical knowledge and structured support needed to recruit and retain employees with disabilities.

Employing 100 addresses this gap by bringing together participants, employers, education providers and disability organisations through a coordinated pathway that prepares individuals for work while strengthening employer readiness for inclusive hiring.

Rather than focusing solely on recruitment, the programme supports the entire employment journey, from preparation and job matching to workplace support and long term employment outcomes.

Objectives

Employing 100 adapts a proven Australian inclusive employment model to Thailand, creating a structured pathway that supports PWDs through skills training, job coaching, and employer readiness support. The project aims at:

Enhancing employment readiness of persons with disabilities through targeted selection and skills development

Participants will be identified through a structured selection process in partnership with organizations of PWDs, government disability service centers, and special education schools, ensuring that those ready for employment are effectively engaged. Selected participants will undergo structured preparation that includes employability training, development of practical skills, workplace readiness, and confidence- building, to support transitions into inclusive employment.

Facilitating inclusive employment through structured placements, on-the-job support, and system capacity building

The programme enables structured internship placements with partner employers, which allows for hands-on experience in real work environments. Tools such as the Inclusion Passport will support onboarding and help employers understand participants’ strengths and needs, while ongoing job coaching during placements and early employment promotes retention.

Strengthening inclusive hiring and workplace practices to support the employment of persons with disabilities through employer engagement and training

The programme works with employers to strengthen inclusive hiring and workplace practices through targeted training and support. Participating employers receive guidance on inclusive recruitment, onboarding, and workplace adjustments, which helps them build awareness, tools, and the confidence to recruit, support, and retain employees with diverse needs.
